Blues, Jazz & Guitar
NEWS
We begin publishing "Strictly Nothing But The Blues" in 1989, with a limited readership.  We also
contributed to Jazz Link magazine, and other blues jazz publications.  In 2000, we went online with
Blues, Jazz & Guitar News.  Relocating from California to Arkansas in 2005, we were off line for 18
months, and sent out a little newsletter to our readership.   We went on line officially on August 28,
2006, and we are in the process of building our site to match what we mailed out, and had such
great feedback from working, gigging musicians.  We have so much in our archives to work with,
and our ambition is to reprint many blues articles along with new stories we gather.   Not a total
vanity fair to self promote, but a site dedicated to real musicians.   No stage hogs allowed, all great
and small get a shot at Blues, Jazz & Guitar.  Submissions welcomed, and MP3's for JAM Radio.
Not like web sites with two miles of links, we list links that are working musician friendly, and aren't
trying to squeeze a buck out of us all.   'nugh said, see ya' all.       PS: Pass the word along, thanks,
and thank you from Mike "Whisker Fish" Dollins.

Fish Fest '06 is the brain-child of many collaborative minds
and ideas. Though initiated and spearheaded by
David
"Fish" Fisher
, Fish Fest has since taken on an entity of its
own. Dedicated to putting on a quality show, friends
throughout the U.S. have contributed/sacrificed their time,
skills, resources, and patience to bring Fish Fest '06 to life. In
the future, we hope to accommodate various types of events
from the serene morning moments of a Black Powder
Rendevous to the boisterous times of a summer lake party.
We can't toot Ron Ryder's horn loud, and long enough to tell the world they are missing one of the finest Net Radios, (one of the oldest too), that
specializes in Blues, and Jazz.   Ron has had us listed on his site for many years among some mighty fine and notable players.   A simply run site
that dotes on blues and jazz that gets to the main point delivery, instead of trying to flash dance you with pop up adds, and gotcha' commercials
trying to sell you something like so many sites do these days.  No mission statement, or razzel-dazzel you with bull droppings, just pure, plain good
solid blues and jazz.   This site is worth your time to take a tour, good for the journeyman to revisit classic blues and jazz, and highly informative to
the new students to our art form to discover a wealth of 12 bar knowledge.   Below in Ron's own words how he started this superb blues and jazz
site, the
Radio Cave. Click banner above.
I began to collect music seriously when my older brother and I began to collect 45s back in the late '50s. Then it was the early '60s, rock 'n' roll in
the USA was feeling the effects of the British music invasion and I was drawn to the tunes. The music from legends like John Mayall, the early
Rolling Stones, the original Yardbirds and many more were covering songs from the American Blues players. They also got many of these old Delta
and Chicago blues legends to perform with them on stage and in the studio in England. These British performers always gave credit for their
success to our American blues masters. I have enjoyed the cover versions for years, with John Mayall making me a dedicated fan since the first
time I heard his albums. Guitar greats like Eric Clapton and Peter Green played with John Mayall -- who, by the way, had an extensive collection of
American blues and, being older than the musicians he played with, turned many of them on to the old blues. I also found listening to artists like
Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and many others made me even more of a dedicated fan of the blues. Some of the best items in my collection are
actually remastered recordings of original blues music. What a difference technology can make with those old recordings! I found the Internet was a
great way to share my music with the world, so when I saw the advantages of audio streaming, I decided to get a broadcast started.

This is our second year sitting in with Southern Exposure.  From the group are Allen Guthrie on the Tele, Greg Guthrie on
drums, and guest
Marty Polk on bass.  One great time jamming some blues classics, and Southern Rock tunes full bore, bar none.
Thanks to Bruce at Woodside Coffee in Bryant, Arkansas, for letting
our quartet sit in the open Mic, Sept 23rd.  We met some great
friends, and pickers as well.    Check out their MySpace for
entertainment nights and talent.  A song writer's showcase.

For you blues players out there that have not heard of the Blues Hall Of Fame, need to take a tour of this dedicated site created
by
Dan "Lucky" Marolt.  This is a real deal site, with credentials and established in the halls of Washington DC as a National
Heritage Foundation, and Trademark with the US Patent Office.   A labor of love, and dedication all blues societies, labels, fans and
musicians need to get out there and nominate players, and help support what is becoming an American Blues Institution that has
been so far lacking for so many years.  This is worth your time to check this massive blues information site out.

Red Lion Hotel
Frank Skinner, webmaster of Spalding Blues Club featured at the
Red Lion Hotel, in Lincolnshire, UK is a hot bed for blues.  Frank
has done more than most to perpetuate, encourage and promote
the art of blues worldwide.   Not a complicated, flash dance site
with whistles, bells and flashing lights; Just plain, pure facts about
blues, artists and places to find blues worldwide.  Unsung heroes
like Frank, are mighty big heroes in our mind set, whereas most of
the world is far too busy to notice blues players both famous, and
not so famous.   This is a must view site to take some time, and
discover a world of blues from a few easy clicks of your mouse.   I
know some of my close blues buddies world over, will take my
suggestion, just to see what I'm talking about.   I wouldn't steer
you wrong, as I know the real deal when I see and hear and read it.
Frank has a good ear for the blues, and has dedicated his life to
spreading the news.    Keep on jammin' them blues Frank.
