DSP with Amp Modeling.  Unlike most of the amp modelings
I've used that are very simulated, these puppies drip with
the real deal.  I love the Tweed Champ and Bassman
settings.  16 in all, with a smooth as silk Jazz setting, and a
better than most Acoustic setting.  I took it to a small gig
with the trio the day after I bought it, and just channel one
with the 6V6's purring was enough.  I tried a few amp
settings like Tweed, Black Face and Hot Rod, and I had
isn't cool tube tone changes.  Only draw back, Fender took
the cheap way out to offer this at 300 bucks, and the
footswitch does not come with it.  Bummer.  The DSP is
decent, and to top it off, a direct out to record or feed
another amp or PA live on stage.   So if you missed the
famous 6V6 the first time around 50 years ago, this is your
chance to hear and feel vintage vibes on a modern amp.  I
usually don't shout out about much new gear, unless it has
direct application for playing the blues.  Let me tell you
brother, this is a keeper for Fender after so many years of
solid state flops, cosmetics and marketing hype.

Brit Packed Blues
News April 2008!

Hello my friends,
I hope this find you well?

This News letter is marbled with much sadness at the loss of a real "Trooper" in the world of
Independent Blues and Music as a Whole!

Les Lewellyn!
http://www.preyinglizardmusic.com/

Les was a much loved friend and inspiration to a
legion of artists including myself! When the Corporate
Record Industry continuously turns its back on the
mother of all popular Music. Les was there to carry
the torch for our beloved Blues!

Les's Music Medium was Big! His Preying Lizard Ezine
was in the upper quartile of all pod casts on a huge
level as searched by Google! And His "Road Rash
Blues Show" was The Worlds Largest! And was
inducted in to the Official Blues Hall Of Fame for his shows Outstanding Service to the Blues!
And his personal music outlet, was his band "Dixie Lizard", where he played everything!

Les was not only responsible for bringing independent artists
such as me and thousands of others to your ear. He also wrote
& recorded some stunning work himself.
I personally will always be grateful to this lovely man for his
support & friendship and I will miss him very much.

God Bless Les & Thank you!

Note: Les's Family have asked that "The Road Rash Blues Show" be continued! And Les's
close friend, and friend to us all, Mark Kerr has been asked to do just that!

Mark has followed in Les's footsteps and has become a leading figure in broadcasting himself.
"The Blues Nation Show" has continuously climbed the rankings over the last 12 months and
sits proud as one of the Biggest Blues Casts on Earth today.

I know one thing, Les will be very proud of Mark, as we all are,
for keeping "The Road Rash" Alive and well in Les's memory.
I wish Mark every success in the world, and know the show will
grow with him at the helm!

As with Les & Mark, as a Musician you really need to sit back at
times and open your eyes to the effort these fella's put in to keep
the Blues Alive! Another wonderful example, is "Delta Boogie" it
does exactly what is says on the tin.

Hairy Larry is another chap who spends every free hour god sends him,  promoting bands and
artists like me. Down in the Arkansas Delta Land, this "One Man Blues Bureau" can bring you
everything you need to satisfy your thirst for the Blues!

This may look like a "No Whistles & Bells" site. But let me tell you.
You will find the hottest links around to Blues artists all over the
world. You will find Video Clips, Sounds, Forums & News. Like
Larry's Music, its done with style, no fuss and with tons of passion.
You will Love it!

http://www.myspace.com/henrysblueshalloffame

Another wonderful site, developed by one mans
passion for The Blues! A truly wonderful site that honours
some truly global musicians of the highest order! "Uncle"
Henry Marshal,  along with friends from all corners of the
globe, have joined to run, build and promote the Blues to
those who's veins it runs through.

Honouring Musicians & Broadcasters alike, this site is truly
worth a visit and to become friends of!

Finally:

Video Of The Week!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFE7VfGL59c

"The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton & John Lee Hooker"

I know this is tinged with Sadness, lets celebrate Les Life, by keeping the Blues Alive!

Till Next time friends, take care & God Bless,
                      Terry

JAMES HARMAN
Paul Butterfield, Charlie Musslewhite, Ken Schoppmeyer, Rod
Piazza and James Harman were some of the first blues harpmen I
got to see, hear and know about early on many decades back
before blues harp playing was an “
in thing” to do.  Years ago, I got
to talk and visit with Paul Butterfield backstage, play in Ken’s bands
and do an interview with James Harman for Jazz Link magazine.
James, is the icon bluesmen in the Southern California blues
scene, and has been for decades.   Kid Ramos and Hollywood
Fats were two of the many exponents out of James Harman
bands.   That dangerous gentleman does most of his blues
harping these days in, (where else), Europe, where American
bluesmen are embraced, rather than ignored here in America
where rock, rap, pop and country are dominant corporate music
pushed entities.   Doesn’t matter that the aforementioned music
styles coped every lick they know from the blues, the art form
flourishes in Europe where James is legend.   Visit Mr. Harman’s
sites, and check out his tunes to discover for your self why folks
that see and hear him all shout out, “Real Deal.”   Read his bio on
his MySpace site, as it reads like a “Who’s, Who of Blues”

My good buddy Pat Graham hosts one of the finest blues broadcasting shows in the
world.  Click all three links to visit Pat, and see what I'm talking about.  A bench mark to
measure other blues broadcasting, Pat is just a super great guy, and send him a note.

My friend Guido's Vintage Guitar Shop called, Hot
Springs Music, is the next generation of music stores.
As most of us are turning away from the large
corporate warehouse, unpersonalized treatment by
the big music chains, I find myself searching out the
small shops that will repair, sell parts and treat you
like a working musician.   Oh, this is a throw-back you
say.  You got that right.  The big chains almost drove
the little guitar shops out of existence, and then a
miracle happened; eBay.  I owned a guitar shop
per-computer days, and you lived and died on what
came through the door.  Now you can have a shop,
and sell to the world through eBay.   This is keeping
the smaller guitar shops on a level playing field with
the big guys, and like in Guido's shop:  Pull up a chair,
pick awhile, talk guitar or just chat about what color
the bass are hitting in Lake Hamilton.  This is pure
Americana all the way. By the way, Guido is one heck
of a blues bass player seen holding his 1956 Les Paul
Special.  Oh it's for sale, but hock you house.

We would like to thank our good friend T.Roy Taylor for sending out a super great blog on
one of our Arkansas Blues Legends, Essie "The Blues Lady" Neal.  The blues world just
needs to know more about one of the real deal, genuine home grown, Arkansas Delta
blues musicians with a deep love for the art.  Essie didn't learn the blues, she was born and
raised in the blues, and is as natural as it gets.  No fuzz tone stomp boxes, no overdriven
half stacks, just pure, real heart and soul guitar and amp, to accompany her sweet singing
style. Check out T. Roy's blog, visit Essie's MySpace, and T. Roy's site too.  Photos below
of Essie and the Mike Dollins Band, as we've had the honor to perform with the Blues Lady.
Product Review
Nah, Fender isn't paying me a
dime to shout out about this
new amp. I am so impressed
with this new amp, that I
bought one.  Longing for a
small 6V6 amp, the vintage
models are beyond my credit
card limit.  They call this one
